Miss bimbo myproana1/10/2024 ![]() Regarding African American fashion, false lashes, nails, and stuff just happen to be popular in extreme styles like it is in Japan. (You see a lot of shorts, but miniskirts are usually club or date wear.) Also, super teased hair isn't really that common. (Most here go for a natural look at most if they're not wearing alt styles.) Platform style heels and knee to thigh high socks aren't super common either nor are miniskirts for casual wear. Some things like the long nails & false lashes aren't common place for street wear in Western fashion. ![]() If you wore these things in japan, you probably would be labeled gyaru, in the US you would probably just look like some chicana wannabe.Īnonymous 06/05/22(Sun)00:58:34 No. I recall many moments where random things like bamboo gold hoop earring, animal print, heavy eyeshadow, extreme tans, etc came into trend in the last 10 years alone. Y2k revitalization and the early 2000s isn't the only time these trends have come back in. It's also normal for rich white people to look to them as the flavor-of-the-moment poor cosplay fashion inspo every few years or so. Meanwhile in the US there are women who have for generations done big hair, long nails, heavy makeup, ultra fem sexy looks because it's cultural. Most people who casually wore liz lisa in the 2010s don't considered themselves gyaru, and most bystanders wouldn't either. It's not the same as being apart of the alternative community. Not the op your replying to, but mainstream fashion adopting some toned down elements of gyaru fashion is like the equivalent of mainstream fashion being influenced by hippies or goths.
